Best Time: October–May is ideal, with clear skies and pleasant weather. June–September is the monsoon — Cherrapunji and Mawsynram are the wettest places on earth — when waterfalls are at their fullest but rain is heavy.
How to Reach: Fly into Guwahati (Assam), the gateway to the North East; Shillong is about a 3-hour scenic drive. Shillong also has a small airport at Umroi. We handle all transfers.
Weather: Carry rain protection year-round — showers can pop up even outside the monsoon. Mornings are best for boating and waterfalls before clouds build.
Money & Network: ATMs are reliable in Shillong and Guwahati; carry cash for villages, boats and entry fees. Mobile network is patchy in remote valleys.

This 7-day version adds a full day for the famous Nongriat double-decker living root bridge trek and a more relaxed pace, so you cover the same highlights plus the region's signature trek without rushing.
No - it is optional. The Nongriat trek involves around 3,500 steps each way. If you prefer, we swap in a relaxed alternative day around Cherrapunji's viewpoints and caves.
A reasonable level of fitness helps, as the climb back up is strenuous. There is no time pressure - you go at your own pace, and the natural pools at the bottom are a lovely reward.
Comfortable hotels in Shillong and Cherrapunji, and homestays near the villages where relevant. We pick clean, well-located stays; category upgrades are available on request.
