Please read before booking

📜

Permits (Arunachal): Indian travellers need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh — we arrange it; carry your photo ID and passport-size photos. Assam and Meghalaya need no permit.

🏔️

Altitude: Tawang sits at about 3,000m and is reached over the 4,170m Sela Pass. We break the ascent (Bomdila/Dirang) to acclimatise and keep the pace gentle.

🚚

Long Drives: North-East distances are long on winding mountain roads (Tezpur–Tawang is a full day). Expect scenic but lengthy travel days; we plan realistic timings.

🌿

Best Time: October–April for clear mountain views; Sela Pass can see snow in winter, and the high roads are weather-dependent.

Everything you need to know before you book

Yes - Indian travellers need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, which we arrange for you. Carry your photo ID and passport-size photos. Assam and Meghalaya need no permit.

Tawang sits at about 3,000m and is reached over the 4,170m Sela Pass. We break the ascent at Dirang/Bomdila to acclimatise and keep the pace gentle. Tell us of any heart or breathing conditions so we can advise.

Tawang Monastery is the largest monastery in India and one of the biggest in the world for Tibetan Buddhism, founded in the 17th century. Perched dramatically in the mountains, it is the spiritual and visual highlight of the trip.

They are long - for example Kaziranga/Bhalukpong to Dirang, and Dirang to Tawang over Sela Pass, are each full mountain days. The roads are winding but scenic; we plan realistic timings and overnight breaks.

October to April for clear mountain views and an open Kaziranga (November to April). Sela Pass can have snow in winter, which is beautiful but weather-dependent; we monitor conditions.

Yes - a Kaziranga stay with an elephant and a jeep safari is included, along with all park permits. It falls within the park's open season for this tour.

Moderate fitness is enough - there is no trekking, but you should handle long drives and high altitude at Sela/Tawang. We keep sightseeing gentle and pace the ascent carefully.

Occasionally, after heavy snowfall, Sela Pass can close temporarily. We track conditions and, if needed, adjust the itinerary for safety. Winter travellers should keep some buffer in their plans.
