Best Time: October–May is ideal, with clear skies and pleasant weather. June–September is the monsoon — Cherrapunji and Mawsynram are the wettest places on earth — when waterfalls are at their fullest but rain is heavy.
How to Reach: Fly into Guwahati (Assam), the gateway to the North East; Shillong is about a 3-hour scenic drive. Shillong also has a small airport at Umroi. We handle all transfers.
Weather: Carry rain protection year-round — showers can pop up even outside the monsoon. Mornings are best for boating and waterfalls before clouds build.
Money & Network: ATMs are reliable in Shillong and Guwahati; carry cash for villages, boats and entry fees. Mobile network is patchy in remote valleys.

The Umngot river at Dawki is renowned for water so clear that boats appear to float on air, with the riverbed visible several metres down. It is at its glassy best in the dry season (roughly November to April), especially in the early morning.
You fly into Guwahati (Assam), the region's main gateway, and we drive you up to Shillong - about 3 hours through pine hills, with a stop at Umiam Lake. All transfers are included.
The headline ones are Nohkalikai (India's tallest plunge waterfall), the Seven Sisters (Nohsngithiang) Falls, and seasonal beauties like Dainthlen and Wei Sawdong, plus the Mawsmai limestone caves.

No - Indian travellers need no special permit for Meghalaya or Assam, just a valid photo ID. (Permits are only required for states like Arunachal Pradesh, which we arrange for combo tours.)
