Best Time: October–May is ideal, with clear skies and pleasant weather. June–September is the monsoon — Cherrapunji and Mawsynram are the wettest places on earth — when waterfalls are at their fullest but rain is heavy.
How to Reach: Fly into Guwahati (Assam), the gateway to the North East; Shillong is about a 3-hour scenic drive. Shillong also has a small airport at Umroi. We handle all transfers.
Weather: Carry rain protection year-round — showers can pop up even outside the monsoon. Mornings are best for boating and waterfalls before clouds build.
Money & Network: ATMs are reliable in Shillong and Guwahati; carry cash for villages, boats and entry fees. Mobile network is patchy in remote valleys.

Everything you need to know before you book
Kaziranga is famous for the greater one-horned rhinoceros (it holds about two-thirds of the world population), plus wild elephants, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, and superb birdlife. Tigers are present but rarely seen. Sightings of rhino, deer and buffalo are very common.
The tour includes an early-morning elephant-back safari (the classic way to get close to rhinos) and an afternoon jeep safari across the grasslands. A second jeep safari can be added on the departure morning.
Kaziranga is open roughly November to April; it closes during the monsoon (mid-May to October) due to flooding. November to April offers the best weather and wildlife viewing, with peak visibility in the drier months.
It is about a 5-6 hour drive via Guwahati. We do it as a travel day and reach the park with time to settle in before the next morning's safari.
Park entry, safari permits and vehicle/elephant bookings are arranged by us as part of the package. Indian travellers need no special travel permit for Assam - just a photo ID.
Kaziranga's elephant safaris are run by the forest department as a long-established, regulated way to view rhinos at close range in the grasslands. If you prefer, we can arrange jeep safaris only - just let us know.
Yes - families love the safaris, waterfalls and boat rides. The pace is comfortable, and children are usually thrilled by the rhinos and elephants. We tailor the plan for younger travellers.
Yes - Kaziranga is on the way towards Arunachal, so a Tawang or Dirang extension is possible. We offer dedicated Assam-Meghalaya-Arunachal combos; just tell us your total days.
