Important Notes
Please read before booking
Yatra Registration: The Vaishno Devi yatra needs a free RFID registration/yatra slip from the Shrine Board (at Katra or online). We arrange it and guide you through the process.
The Trek: It is about 12–13 km from Katra to the Bhawan. You can walk, or take a pony, palki, battery car or helicopter (Katra–Sanjichhat) for most of the climb.
Best Time: March–October is pleasant; the Navratri period is the busiest. Winters are cold with occasional snow near the top.
How to Reach: Fly to Jammu (IXJ) or take the train to Katra (SVDK); it is a short drive to the base. We handle all transfers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book
Shivkhori is a revered natural cave shrine of Lord Shiva in the Reasi district, about 80 km from Katra. Inside the long cave is a self-manifested (swayambhu) Shivling, and the walls bear natural formations of Hindu deities.
It is roughly a 2-2.5 hour drive from Katra to Ransoo, followed by an easy ~3 km trek to the cave. We do it as a comfortable day trip.
It is an easy-to-moderate 3 km walk on a defined path to the cave mouth, then a walk through the cave itself. Most pilgrims manage it comfortably; take it slow inside the cave.
Yes - pairing the Shakti shrine of Vaishno Devi with the Shiva shrine of Shivkhori is a popular and spiritually complete circuit, and both are close together in the Jammu region.
Vaishno Devi needs the RFID yatra registration (which we handle). Shivkhori has simpler entry formalities. We take care of the arrangements for both.
March to October is ideal. The annual Shivkhori fair (around Maha Shivratri) is especially vibrant but crowded. We plan around the season and your dates.
