Best Time: March–June is pleasant and green; December–February brings snow to Shimla, Manali and Kufri; July–September sees monsoon showers and occasional landslides.
How to Reach: The trip is by road in a private vehicle. Most itineraries start from Chandigarh or Delhi; the nearest airports are Chandigarh, Kullu (Bhuntar) and Gaggal (Dharamshala).
Hill Roads: Himachal''s mountain roads are winding and slower than plains. We plan realistic drive times and use experienced local drivers.
Money & Network: Carry some cash for smaller towns; ATMs are in main towns. Mobile network is good in cities and patchy in remote valleys.

Shimla is about 3-4 hours by road from Chandigarh and 7-8 hours from Delhi. The scenic Kalka-Shimla toy train is also a popular way up if timings suit your weekend.
For a quick weekend, yes - two nights cover the Mall, Ridge, Kufri and Jakhoo comfortably. If you want to add Chail or Narkanda, we suggest a third night.
Yes - the UNESCO-listed Kalka-Shimla toy train is a lovely scenic ride. We can help book a seat subject to availability, either for the full route or a short segment.
Shimla and Kufri usually get snow between late December and February. Outside winter it is green and pleasant rather than snowy. We advise on current conditions for your dates.
Very - the Mall Road and Ridge are pedestrian-only and the main sights are close together. There is some uphill walking, but it is manageable and part of the charm.
Kufri, about 30 minutes from Shimla, offers open meadows, pony rides, an adventure park and a Himalayan nature park, plus snow play in winter.
