🚌

How to Reach: The trip is by road in a private vehicle. Most itineraries start from Chandigarh or Delhi; the nearest airports are Chandigarh, Kullu (Bhuntar) and Gaggal (Dharamshala).

⚠️

Hill Roads: Himachal''s mountain roads are winding and slower than plains. We plan realistic drive times and use experienced local drivers.

💰

Money & Network: Carry some cash for smaller towns; ATMs are in main towns. Mobile network is good in cities and patchy in remote valleys.

Everything you need to know before you book

This version starts in Dalhousie and adds the ancient temple town of Chamba on the way to Dharamshala, so it leans a little more towards heritage while covering the same headline spots of Khajjiar and McLeodganj.

Chamba is a historic town famous for its 10th-century Lakshmi Narayan temple complex, the Bhuri Singh museum, the Chamba palace and the grassy Chowgan promenade - a rich stop for temple and history lovers.

Its saucer-shaped green meadow ringed by deodar forest with a central lake resembles Alpine scenery, earning the nickname. You can enjoy horse rides, zorbing and the Khajji Nag temple there.

Via Chamba it is a longer day (around 5-6 hours) but scenic and broken up by the Chamba stops. We start early and keep it comfortable.

Yes - Kalatop, near Khajjiar and Dalhousie, offers forest trails and viewpoints, and sometimes glimpses of Himalayan wildlife. It is a lovely nature stop, included on the Khajjiar day.

The nearest railhead is Pathankot (about 2.5 hours), and Gaggal (Kangra) is the nearest airport. Overnight Volvo/train from Delhi to Pathankot then road is common. We arrange the routing.

Yes - the sightseeing is gentle, the meadows and lakes are great for kids, and the hill towns suit a relaxed family pace. Optional hikes can be skipped.

March to June for pleasant weather and green meadows, and September to November for clear skies. Winter can bring snow to Dalhousie and Khajjiar; monsoon may slow the roads.
