About this Himachal Tour

Both hill towns, from Delhi, without wasting a day

This is the trip most people mean when they say "Himachal". You leave Delhi, spend two nights in Shimla for the Mall, the Ridge and Kufri, drive the long scenic road through Mandi and Kullu, then spend three nights in Manali with Solang Valley, the Atal Tunnel and Sissu.

We run it in a private vehicle from Delhi, so there is no changing coaches and no waiting at a bus stand at 5 AM. Overnight Volvo can be arranged instead if you would rather save a day each way — just tell us which you prefer.

Six days is the shortest sensible way to do both towns. Anything less and the trip becomes a drive with two hotel nights in the middle.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Delhi to Shimla to Manali and back, at a pace that works

  • Early start from Delhi, with breakfast and tea stops on the way.
  • Reach Shimla by afternoon, check in and freshen up.
  • Evening on the Mall Road, the Ridge, Christ Church and Scandal Point.
💡 Pro Tip: Shimla's centre is car-free, so ask us to book a hotel near the Mall if you would rather not climb.
  • Leave early for Kufri — meadows and viewpoints, and snow play in winter.
  • Back in Shimla for Jakhoo Temple and the Viceregal Lodge.
  • A free evening for the Mall, the Gaiety Theatre or a walk in the deodars.
💡 Pro Tip: Go to Kufri first thing. By midday in season the car park and the slope are both full.
  • Drive through Mandi and into the Kullu valley, with the Beas alongside most of the way.
  • Stops for photographs, lunch and a look at the Kullu shawl weavers if you like.
  • Reach Manali by evening and settle in.
💡 Pro Tip: This is a full travel day, not a half one. We keep the next morning gentle because of it.
  • Solang Valley for snow, skiing in season, and paragliding when conditions allow.
  • On through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu in Lahaul — a different world on the other side.
  • Back to Manali in the evening.
💡 Pro Tip: Leave at first light. In peak season the 13 km to Solang can take two hours.
  • Hadimba Temple in its cedar grove, then Manu Temple and the Vashisht hot springs.
  • Old Manali for cafes and the Beas riverside.
  • Optional add-on: a day trip to Manikaran and Kasol — tell us in advance.
💡 Pro Tip: River rafting on the Beas runs most of the year and is easy to add on this day.
  • A slow morning and breakfast before checkout.
  • Drive back to Delhi, with stops along the way.
  • Arrive Delhi late evening or overnight depending on traffic.
💡 Pro Tip: If you would rather not do the drive, we can put you on an overnight Volvo instead and save you a day.

Important Notes

Please read before booking

🌲

Best Time: March–June is green and pleasant; December–February is the snow season at Kufri, Narkanda and Solang; July–September is monsoon, with rain and occasional landslides.

🚌

How to Reach: Chandigarh is the nearest airport and railhead for Shimla; Bhuntar (Kullu) is nearest to Manali. Overnight Volvo coaches run from Delhi to both towns and we can arrange them.

⚠️

Hill Roads: Himachal's roads are winding and slower than the map suggests. We plan realistic drive times and use experienced local drivers rather than squeezing in an extra stop.

❄️

Snow is Weather: Nobody can guarantee snowfall on a given date. We will tell you honestly what the odds look like for your week and keep the plan flexible.

💰

Money & Network: Carry some cash for smaller towns and for pony, sledge and gear hire. ATMs are in the main towns; network is good in Shimla and Manali, patchy on the higher roads.
