Important Notes
Please read before booking
Best Time: March–June is pleasant and green; December–February brings snow to Shimla, Manali and Kufri; July–September sees monsoon showers and occasional landslides.
How to Reach: The trip is by road in a private vehicle. Most itineraries start from Chandigarh or Delhi; the nearest airports are Chandigarh, Kullu (Bhuntar) and Gaggal (Dharamshala).
Hill Roads: Himachal''s mountain roads are winding and slower than plains. We plan realistic drive times and use experienced local drivers.
Money & Network: Carry some cash for smaller towns; ATMs are in main towns. Mobile network is good in cities and patchy in remote valleys.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book
Solang Valley offers a ropeway (cable car), zorbing, ATV rides, paragliding and, in winter, snow activities like skiing and tubing. Most are optional and paid on the spot, so you choose what to try.
If you want to focus on Manali without long drives, yes - you stay in one base and enjoy Solang, Rohtang/Atal Tunnel and old Manali at a relaxed pace. The Shimla-Manali circuit suits those wanting both hill stations.
In winter, Solang and the Rohtang/Atal Tunnel area have plenty of snow. In other seasons you can usually reach snow near Rohtang or via the Atal Tunnel to Sissu, depending on conditions.
Manali is reached by road from Chandigarh (about 8 hours) or Delhi (overnight Volvo), or by a short flight to Kullu-Bhuntar airport (about 50 km away). We can arrange any of these.
Yes - white-water rafting on the Beas river near Manali is a popular optional activity in season (roughly spring to early monsoon). We can add it to your leisure day.
The Atal Tunnel is a 9 km engineering marvel under the Rohtang range that connects Manali to the Lahaul valley (Sissu) year-round, giving quick access to snow and stunning scenery even when Rohtang Pass is closed.
Rohtang Pass requires a permit with daily limits and is seasonal. The Atal Tunnel to Sissu does not need a Rohtang permit. We advise on the current rules for your dates.
Yes - four nights comfortably covers Solang, a Rohtang/Atal Tunnel excursion, Hadimba temple, old Manali and a leisure or rafting day, without feeling rushed.
