One of Hinduism's holiest pilgrimages. High in the Kashmir Himalayas, the sacred Amarnath cave (3,888 m) houses a naturally forming ice Shivling - Baba Barfani - that waxes and wanes with the moon. This trip takes you via Srinagar and the Baltal base, with a trek or helicopter to the holy cave.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Five days from Srinagar to the holy cave
- Arrive in Srinagar; transfer to your hotel or houseboat.
- Evening shikara ride on Dal Lake; rest and acclimatise.
- Drive to Baltal via the beautiful meadows of Sonamarg.
- Check in near the base camp; early night before the yatra.
- Trek (~14 km) or take the helicopter to Panjtarni, then a short walk to the holy cave.
- Darshan of the ice Shivling; return to Baltal.
- Drive back to Srinagar.
- Visit the Mughal gardens (Shalimar, Nishat) and the Old City.
- After breakfast, transfer to Srinagar airport.
- A blessed Amarnath Yatra complete - Har Har Mahadev!

Registration: The Amarnath Yatra requires compulsory advance registration with a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) from an authorised doctor, issued by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB). We guide you through the process.
Routes: Two routes reach the cave - the shorter, steeper Baltal route (~14 km) and the longer, gradual Pahalgam route (~46 km). Ponies, palki and a helicopter (to Panjtarni) are available.
Season: The yatra is open only for a short window, usually July–August, timed to the holy month of Shravan. Dates are announced by the Shrine Board each year.
Altitude & Weather: The holy cave is at about 3,888 m. Acclimatise, keep a basic level of fitness, and carry warm, waterproof clothing — it is cold and can snow even in summer.

Everything you need to know before you book
The yatra runs for a short window each year, usually from around late June/July to August (roughly 45-60 days), ending on Raksha Bandhan (Shravan Purnima). The exact dates are announced by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) annually, and pilgrimage is only permitted during this period.
Yes - advance registration is compulsory, along with a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued by an authorised doctor on the SASB-prescribed format. We guide you through the registration and documentation before your travel.
The Baltal route is shorter and steeper (about 14 km each way, doable in a long day), while the Pahalgam route is longer and more gradual (about 46 km over 3-5 days via Chandanwari and Sheshnag). This package uses the quicker Baltal route; we can arrange the Pahalgam route on request.
Yes - helicopters operate from Baltal and Pahalgam (Nunwan) to Panjtarni, from where it is a short walk or pony ride to the holy cave. It saves considerable time and effort. We book it in advance where possible, subject to weather and availability.
The holy cave sits at about 3,888 m, so a basic level of fitness helps and acclimatisation matters. Do some walking practice beforehand, ascend steadily, stay hydrated, and carry warm clothing - it is cold and can snow even in summer. Ponies and palki are available for the climb.
Inside the Amarnath cave, an ice stalagmite forms naturally and is revered as a Shivling representing Lord Shiva. It waxes and wanes with the lunar cycle, reaching its peak around the full moon - the spiritual highlight of the yatra.
Fly into Srinagar, the base for the yatra. From there we drive you to Baltal via Sonamarg. All transfers, stays and the yatra logistics are arranged by us.
Warm layers and a heavy jacket, thermals, a raincoat/poncho, sturdy trekking shoes, gloves and a cap, personal medicines, and your ID with the registration slip and health certificate. It is cold and wet at altitude even in summer; we share a full checklist on booking.
